In the long hot summers of the early 2000’s, the boys and I wasted many afternoon and evening hours playing backgammon and drinking at Vol de Nuit (Bar Inédit) on Prince-Arthur. It wasn't a total waste of time, however, because this is where I met Lauren Jane. LJ is clever, talented, spirited and cool, and we became fast friends. She's also one of those rare individuals who remains every ounce the person they were before they had a family - a trait I greatly admire.
