Birthday Portrait Series: Eliza Little

I don't just love Eliza because she's married to my best friend, Bevan. I love her because she's exceedingly generous, subtly hilarious, and very, very clever. Although Eliza is never one to miss a party, she's got a Fulbright scholarship under her belt, a PhD around the corner, and a brilliant future ahead.

Here she is by the lake at her parents' house in northwestern Connecticut, Christmas 2006, with her beloved dog Shady.
