Surfing the Giant Waves of Moher

Writer: Riccardo CellereRiccardo Cellere

I saw this on PDN Pulse this week – a short documentary entitled “Dark Side of the Lens,” by Irish photographers Mickey Smith and Allan Wilson. I was instantly reminded of my good friend, Montreal photographer Will Allen – always ready to “jump in” to any dangerous situation to get a great photo. In Montreal there is an urban legend surrounding Will’s exploits that have him jumping out of an airplane, taking a photo, re-entering the plane and landing it himself.

I sometimes feel the urge to stare into the eyes of a great white shark- from the safety of a protective cage, of course. But nevertheless immersed in warm salt water, camera in hand, being bumped and prodded by the nose of a great white is where I want to be. I think it’s time to plan an adventure with Will.
