Industrial Photography: Photobombing Goats

Industrial photography never bores me. For example, my mission to photograph a solar energy field in Barbados was complicated by these skittish photobombers.

It’s a very cool project: The Barbados Light & Power Company built the solar farm in 2016 as part of a national effort to transition to 100% clean energy by 2045. The plant generates 10 MW of renewable energy per day, which represents enough to power 7,700 households. Surplus energy is stored in an integrated battery system for emergency preparedness.

But about the goats – local farmers partnered with the plant to bring their goats in to take care of lawn maintenance for the 42 acres of grass below the panels. It’s a climate-friendly alternative to fuel-guzzling lawnmower and the goats seem happy about it.

Thanks to The Barbados Light & Power and their parent company, Emera, for an interesting assignment, and to Creative Currency for the collaboration.
