
On one of the first occasions I met Matt McKean, he had somehow smuggled a large quantity of cheese from Quebec to a New Year’s Eve party in a small town in Alabama called Waverly. I did not ask questions. Friendship ensued. Matt is a man of many talents, the least of which include creating beautiful food out of thin air, instilling appreciation for the Grateful Dead in young children, and sitting quietly in a corner reading the Bible. Here he is at Oysterfest in 2013, enjoying life as only he can. Happy birthday, Matt.
